Valentines Day

Valentines Day was a little different this year. Michael and I decided to break-up after over two and a half years of dating...long story. So I was feeling a little sad and depressed until I got a call from one of my sorority sisters that lives in the house. She called to tell me that someone sent me flowers! I was excited but confused at the same time. I told her to read me the card. My daddy had sent me flowers for Valentines Day. They were beautiful!!! I felt so loved! After I picked up my flowers I help THREE of my friends get ready for their lavish dates. I did their hair and make-up and dressed them! My mom called me and asked my what I was doing and I sadly told her that I got all of my friends ready to go to the nicest restaurants in Boulder. I was surprised to find out that Michael was in Boulder and he wanted to take me and my dateless friend to dinner. As a gentleman would, he took us out for all you can eat sushi. It was amazing!!!! The next day Michael and I went snowboarding with some friends! It was really good to see him and its nice knowing that we are still good friends.

Hicks and Yachts????

Kappa Alpha Theta had their first party with a fraternity for second semester. We were invited by Kappa Sigma for a hicks and yachts party??? At first I had no idea what that theme meant and I realized that I didnt get the memo once I got to the house, but I guess you dress up like a hick and girls wear bikinis and pearls with flannels and jean shorts and the guys year board shorts and a flannel? The venue that we were supposed to go to had lost their liquor license the night before (i happened to be at the party when the venue lost their license) so the girls in charge had to find another venue really fast. They ended up finding a warehouse in Broomfield (20 minutes away) that had a bar and 10 sand volleyball courts!! I felt at home.

snowboarding

Going to CU has its perks. I have been going snowboarding a lot during second semester. Because of my new schedule I have time on Tuesdays and sometimes Thursdays to go. A lot of my friends dont have classes on those days as well so we all go together. I was lucky to get my cousins board and boots for FREE (what a nice cousin). I took full advantage of having a new board a boots and I have gone about 5 times in the last two weeks. My roommate brought her car up second semester so I dont have to take the bus (THANK GOD). It is only an hour and fifteen minutes to Breckenridge and Keystone. They are both really big moutains and they are pretty close. Aspen and Telluride are about 6 hours from Boulder. Come visit and hit the slopes!!!!

X Games in Aspen, CO

I was fortunate enough to be invited to go to the X Games is Aspen. It was very last minute but that was probably better. Lauren and I drove up (6 hours...1 hour dead stopped in traffic) and got to Aspen around 10pm on Friday night. We staying at our friends AMAZING penthouse apartment in the heart of Aspen. That night we partied with all of his friends from Aspen and Boulder. Later in the night I was asked if I wanted to go to a club. I told the boy that I didnt have an ID and i wouldnt be able to get in. He told me not to worry and we were off. We show up and he shakes the hand of the owner and we get escorted in...no questions. We were at a private, members only club called the Caribou Club. I felt like a celebrity and i didnt let anyone think anything less. The next day we went to a really nice restaurant for an early lunch, did some shopping and of course...went to the X Games. It was an amazing experience. I was lucky to have gone.

hall stylist

So I have been declared the "Hall Stylist"...Auntie Jan would be proud. Before we go out everyone comes in my room and either makes me approve their outfit, or raids my closet and makes me dress them. I am hoping to pursue a styling career so I guess its good practice. Lauren makes me laugh because she cannot go out unless I dress her. If I tell her that I wont be home she will pout and say: "Devon...style me". I guess it makes me feel wanted and appreciated.

Good to be home....

So I've been slacking on the blog...but I will try to redeem myself by recapping the past few months. Being home for the holidays was so fun. I missed my friends so much and I didnt get to see a few of them at Thanksgiving, so it was good to catch up. We started a tradition in high school of having a white elephant party at each one of our houses. This year it was at my friend Dray's house. We had so much fun; telling stories (past and present), opening presents, laughing, etc. I gave a $30 iTunes gift card and I picked a realllllyyyy soft blanket that is perfect for the cold nights in Boulder. Overall it was a really good break. Being in Colorado makes me miss home and my family. I love coming home and having older sister responsibilities like taking Bennett to practice, WANTING to go grocery shopping for my mom, cook meals, CLEAN MY ROOM??!!! haha.
The first week of my break we took a family vaca to Tahoe. At first I wasnt that excited because I was leaving the snow to go to more snow!! But once we got their I started to have fun. We went snowboarding almost everyday. Watching my dad snowboard was kinda wierd but cool at the same time. Watching him take a few hard falls wasnt so fun. Seeing everyone hobble around the next day because we were so sore was hilarious. It was great to be with the family and have no distractions.
